Coordinated Campaign Director 

The Delaware Democratic Party is hiring a Coordinated Campaign Director. This position will report directly to Party leadership, and will develop, oversee, and execute all aspects of the Coordinated Campaign plan in 2022. In Delaware, the Coordinated Campaign plays a critical role in helping Democratic candidates win up and down the ticket, augmenting the efforts of individual campaigns with a plan to mobilize voters to support all of our candidates.

A strong candidate will have the skills and knowledge to develop and execute a comprehensive, data-driven field program, messaging strategy, and mail and digital program aimed at getting out the votes necessary for Democrats up and down our ticket to win on Election Day. Additionally, they will be able to demonstrate an ability to manage and develop staff in what can be a high-pressure environment.

The preferred candidate will have the soft skills to complement their technical know-how, including a collaborative approach to problem solving, a strategic mind, and the ability to lead and inspire a diverse group of stakeholders, organizers, and volunteers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing the 2022 Coordinated Campaign Plan
  • Directing the day-to-day organizing operations for the campaign
  • Hiring and managing staff
  • Training and supervising field staff throughout the campaign cycle, while implementing clear benchmarks and accountability measures
  • Designing and implementing field, voter contact, and training programs
  • Working with Party’s technology director to analyze data and track the progress of field programs and adjust as necessary
  • Working with Party Leadership to hold partners accountable to their fundraising benchmarks
  • Coordinating with field directors of statewide campaigns and caucus programs

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least two cycles of field/organizing experience or comparable political or advocacy experience;
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, training, and managing a team of paid staff;
  • Must be a strong leader able to inspire and motivate staff and campaigns;
  • Must be a strategic thinker who possesses strong analytical skills
  • Must possess creative approaches to problem solving and be willing to collaborate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in VAN, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs;
  • Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence - the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways 
  • Have a personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability.
  • Reliable transportation is required for frequent travel up and down state

State Field Director

The Delaware Democratic Party is hiring a State Field Director. This position will report to Party leadership, and will oversee the 2022 Coordinated Campaign’s Field Operations. A strong candidate will have the skills and knowledge to develop and execute a comprehensive field program aimed at getting out the votes necessary for Delaware’s Democratic ticket to be successful on Election Day 2022.

Delaware’s electoral outlook includes a U.S. House race atop the ticket, along with our Attorney General, State Auditor, and State Treasurer as statewide seats. We also have majorities to defend and possibly grow in our General Assembly and with every seat on the ballot this year, resources and bandwidth will be stretched thin.

The preferred candidate will have the soft skills to complement their technical know-how, including a collaborative approach to problem solving, a strategic mind, and the ability to lead and inspire a diverse group of stakeholders, organizers, and volunteers.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the hiring and placement of field staff throughout the state
  • Training and supervising field staff throughout the campaign cycle, while implementing clear benchmarks and accountability measures
  • Working with Coordinated Campaign Director to design and implement field, voter contact, and training programs
  • Coordinating with field directors of statewide campaigns and caucus programs
  • Preparing weekly reports for Coordinate Campaign Director and Chairs
  • Leading internal communications with field staff
  • Assisting with site location for regional field offices

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Basic Understanding of targeting and organizing metrics;
  • Staff management and training skills;

Internship Overview

The Delaware Democratic Party is seeking enthusiastic, ambitious, and responsible interns. This program provides interns with an opportunity to learn internal party operations, including campaign strategy and research, constituent relations, event planning, candidate support, data management, and message development. Interns would work out of State Party Headquarters alongside party staff and would have a chance to meet and work with party leaders, public officials, and candidates. 

General Responsibilities: 

  • Administrative Support - Interns will assist State Party Staff in day-to-day operations of State Party Headquarters. 
  • Technology/Data Support - Interns are asked to assist in maintaining State Party databases and other digital resources.
  • Policy/Campaign Research - Interns may be tasked with researching potential policies and campaign strategies.
  • Social Media and Messaging - Interns may be asked to assist with crafting and implementing a social media content strategy.
  • Public Relations - Interns would be a part of the State Party’s outward facing image, greeting building visitors, fielding constituent phone calls, and engaging voters and candidates. 

Interns can either work in-person, remotely, or a hybrid of the two. If in-person, the internship will primarily run out of the State Party Headquarters in New Castle during normal business hours — with the exception of some night and weekend commitments. Internships are unpaid but may be taken for college credit, depending on the number of hours worked. Students may set up a flexible but regular schedule to accommodate classes and other commitments.

Priority will be given to candidates who:

  • Major in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications and Marketing; however, all majors will be given consideration.
  • Possess a great deal of interest in the political process and public service, particularly in Delaware.
  • Are students in the Junior or Senior year of their studies.
