Markell Sets Record Straight on Health Care Reform

In defense of the recent Supreme Court decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act, Governor Jack Markell appeared on CNN to voice his support for the act.

“Since the law was passed health care costs have gone down, premiums have not been increasing at the same kind of rates- there are a lot of benefits to the act,” Markell told CNN host.

The ACA will make health care coverage more affordable and secure for millions of families across the country. This has important implications for the thousands of middle class families in Delaware who have already benefited from the reforms and will benefit further once the act takes full effect in 2014.

Markell also remained committed to setting the record straight on the reforms costs to businesses. Despite GOP’s official’s assertion that the act hurts businesses, Markell continued to set the record straight by indicating that the act has no negative impact on businesses and nor is it responsible for a lack of job growth. Instead, as Markell pointed out several times, the act will improve the economy by driving health care costs down.
