Carson for
Special Election
DOVER, DE – This
morning, William J. Carson, Jr. filed with the
Commissioner of Elections to be the Democratic
candidate in the 28th district
special election to replace newly-elected State
Senator Bruce Ennis.
Endorsed unanimously by the 28th
Democratic District committee during a public
meeting Wednesday night, Carson was
clear about the type of campaign he will
run.
“This will be a grassroots campaign with
plenty of door-knocking,” Carson said.
“I am looking forward to listening to the
concerns of my old friends and new neighbors
and taking those concerns to Dover.”
Carson also
emphasized that once elected, he will follow in
the footsteps of his good friend Bruce Ennis
and make constituent relations a top priority.
In addition, Carson’s top
issues include: responsible development,
affordable healthcare, reducing class sizes,
and open government.
Ennis, who was at the meeting, wasted no
time endorsing Carson.
“I served as State Representative in this
district for over 25 years, and I know what it
takes to do the job,” Ennis said. “With Bill's
record of public service and commitment to our
community, he is the best candidate to finish
my term. He absolutely has my vote.”
Kent County Democratic Chair Abby Betts
added to Sen. Ennis’ praise of Carson.
“Bill knows the people of this district,”
she said. “His family has lived in Delaware for
three generations, and there is barely an
aspect of this community he hasn’t volunteered
with somehow. On December 8th, the
voters will make their choice, and it will be
Bill Carson.”
Carson works
for the Town of Middletown and
is involved with the Smyrna Fire Department,
the Smyrna-Clayton Little League, the
Smyrna-Clayton Moose Lodge, and the American
Legion Post #14. A former employee of DelDOT,
he is no stranger to state government. Carson
and his wife Betty reside in Smyrna.
