REP. BRUCE ENNIS TO SEEK SENATE SEAT

Smyrna, DE – State Representative Bruce C. Ennis (D-Smyrna) was unanimously selected by the Democratic district committees that make up the 14th Senate District to be the candidate to run for the 14th Senatorial District. Senator James T. Vaughn, the current Senator in the district, is retiring, effective Friday, September 28th.

“Bruce Ennis is my choice to serve out the remainder of my term in the State Senate.  Constituent service has always been my number one priority, and I know that Bruce will continue that tradition,” said Senator Vaughn.

After his endorsement by the district committees, Ennis voiced the sentiment of many in his district who are faced with Senator Vaughn’s retirement.

“I have known and worked with Senator Vaughn in a variety of capacities for many years,” he said. “I am deeply honored by his support for my decision to run for the 14th Senatorial seat. I hope the voters will see fit to let me serve them for the remainder of his term.”

Ennis has served the residents of the 28th district since 1982 and worked tirelessly on issues that concern public safety and support for their various needs. Ennis was the sponsor of legislation that established the statewide paramedic service, which enables communities throughout the State of Delaware to have Emergency Medical Technicians and Basic Life Support systems on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“I promise to be responsive and accessible to each and every one of the residents in my district, just as I have for the last 25 years as State Representative,” said Ennis. I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Delaware as a member of the State Senate.”

The 14th Senatorial District is made up of election districts from the 8th, 9th, and 28th Representative Districts.
