Delaware State Treasurer Jack Markell and Ronni Cohen, Executive Director of the Delaware Financial Literacy Institute (DFLI) welcomed over 1,500 women and men to the second From Purses to Portfolios conference Saturday, October 21, 2006. The conference is part of the “Take Charge Delaware Woman” certificate program which encourages participants to take charge of their financial lives by attending the free financial literacy sessions of the Delaware Money School.

“2004’s conference drew about 1,000 participants and I’m thrilled that over 1,500 are attending today,” Mr. Markell said. “This fantastic turnout really shows that people are interested in the information and taking charge of their own financial lives.”

Although the conference is tailored to address the financial challenges of women, this year’s conference welcomed more men attendees than ever.
