The Democratic City Committee (DCC) is the governing body for the City of Wilmington, a subdivision of the Democratic State Committee in Delaware. The other three subdivisions include the New Castle County Democratic Committee, the Kent County Democratic Committee, and the Sussex County Democratic Committee.

The Democratic City Committee is divided into smaller units called councilmanic districts. These districts mirror Wilmington’s 8 city council districts, and each has officers and committeepeople. Councilmanic districts are further divided into election districts, boundaries which are set by the Commissioner of Elections’ office. Each election district typically has one polling place.

The State Rules call for the City Committee to have elections in the fall following a Presidential election. With that, our next elections are scheduled for the fall of 2009. Any vacancies for committeepeople or officers are filled by the appropriate councilmanic district committee as they occur.
