Delaware Democratic Party Releases New Web Video, Calls Out Castle for Voting Against Job-Creation Measures
New Castle, DE – Today, the Delaware Democratic Party released a new web video calling out Congressman Mike Castle (R-Del.) for not doing enough to support job creation efforts in Congress. The video highlights footage of Castle speaking about jobs at several public events, and compares his rhetoric with the history of his votes.
“Congressman Castle has had many opportunities to create jobs here in Delaware – and has opposed every one,” said Katie Ellis, Communications Director for the Delaware Democratic Party. “He voted against funding for Recovery Act projects in Delaware, and voted against tax cuts for employers to cover health insurance for their employees. More recently he opposed the HIRE Act, which provides tax breaks for companies that hire new employees. If Congressman Castle really wants to bring jobs to Delaware, he should do his job in Washington, and advocate for his constituents.”

Think Progress: GOP Senate Candidate Rep. Mike Castle Takes Credit For Over $5 Million In Stimulus Funds He Voted To Kill: Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE) has staggered to the right, voting against the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (also known as the stimulus), financial regulation reform, the recent jobs package, and health reform. Running for the U.S. Senate this year, Castle has cast aside his image of a GOP moderate and joined his conservative colleagues in their reflexive opposition. But despite his right-wing voting record, Castle is attempting to drum up positive media coverage by claiming ownership over one of the progressive measures he voted to kill. http://thinkprogress.org/2010/01/07/castle-stimulus-hypocrisy/

Common Ground: Jobs Bill Passes House: Kirk, Castle, Blunt, Boozman Vote Against: The HIRE Act passed the House today, no thanks to Reps. Mark Kirk of Illinois, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Michael Castle of Delaware, and John Boozman of Arkansas. Each of these would-be Senators voted against the job creation package. The bipartisan bill, has four key provisions including a payroll tax holiday for businesses to encourage hiring, additional funds to help small businesses expand, an extension of the Highway Trust Fund to allow more infrastructure investments, and an expansion of the Build America Bonds program to allow states finance infrastructure projects. Each of these four Republicans stands in opposition to the Senators they would replace on job creation. http://www.dscc.org/blog?blog_entry_KEY=656
