Governor Tim Kaine, DNC chair met with Organizing for America and Democratic activist at the Delaware Democratic Party Headquarters last Friday. Chairman Kaine was introduced by Delaware Democratic Party Chair John Daniello and OFA Delaware Director, Jennifer Hill. About 50 people enjoyed the Governors comments about President Obama’s accomplishments and answers to their wide range of questions about strategy, issues and the 2010 elections.
Chairman Kaine opened with a discussion about what the President faced when he was inaugurated in January 2009 and what the administration has been able to do since then. The significant list of accomplishments include; a plan to withdraw from Iraq, signing the Lily Ledbetter equal pay, expansion and reauthorization of Children’s Health Insurance Program, expanding stem cell research, significant new investments in the sciences and education, new controls on the marketing of tobacco to youth, credit and mortgage reform and more. Kaine was adamant about why we need to tell the story of these accomplishments to remind ourselves and others how much has been done despite the opposition.
His message emphasized the need for us all to stay positive because we are in a good place with a majority in both the US House and Senate. We have a popular president who is doing everything he can to pass health reform and pass a jobs bill and he needs strong partners in congress. Then he asked OFA and Democrats to do their part to and help the President during 2010.
