Delaware Representative Mike Castle, the Republican candidate in the state’s upcoming election for a U.S. Senate seat, is one of 111 lawmakers who voted against the stimulus while also taking credit for its success.
According to Think Progress, Castle claimed credit for over $5 million in stimulus funds that he voted against.
Many of these lawmakers, and they are almost entirely Republicans, have spoken out against President Obama’s Economic Recovery Act in public while privately working diligently to secure funds for their districts.
For those who would cry out that Think Progress is a liberal source with an agenda, the conservative Washington Times has also covered this story, highlighting more than twelve Republicans who bash the stimulus to the press and their constituents while privately seeking money for pet projects.
