PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN MANAGER DAVID PLOUFFE IN DELAWARE ON BOOK TOUR FOR THE AUDACITY TO WIN, FRIDAY, DEC. 18

David Plouffe, campaign manager for President Obama’s primary and general election victories in 2008, will bring his book tour for The Audacity to Win to Delaware on Friday, December 18, with a 12:30 pm appearance at the Wilmington University auditorium in New Castle.

“Off the Page: An Afternoon with David Plouffe,” is presented by Delaware Center for the Book, Wilmington University Library, and Wilmington University’s College of Arts and Sciences’ Program in Government and Public Policy. The event will feature a 30-minute talk, a 30-minute Q&A session, and book signing.

In his book, The Audacity to Win: The Inside Story and Lessons of Barack Obama’s Historic Victory, Plouffe narrates the incredible story of how the Obama for America campaign crafted and implemented its sweeping, unprecedented plan. Beginning this momentous journey with no capital, one office, a bare-bones staff, and an extraordinary candidate, Plouffe and his team managed to raise over $750 million and millions of volunteers. With Spartan discipline and a social-networking strategy that took the Internet by force, they led Obama to a primary victory over Hillary Clinton in one of the most significant political upsets ever and then, finally, to the presidency.

Plouffe will be the fourth author to appear in the Division of Libraries’ “Off the Page” series, which has featured poet Nikki Giovanni, children’s author M.T. Anderson, and journalist Barbara Graham.

“Our goal is to bring bestselling, notable and thought-provoking authors to Delaware throughout the year in an ongoing celebration of lifelong learning and literacy,” said Annie Norman, state librarian and director of the Delaware Division of Libraries.

The event is open to the public at no cost. Seating is limited on a first-come, first-served basis. The Wilmington University auditorium is located at 320 DuPont Highway, New Castle.
